Winner of Best Arts & Culture Event – Middle East Event Awards
Entertain X proudly conceptualized and produced Hegra After Dark for the Royal Commission for AlUla, a breathtaking, immersive theatrical experience staged beneath the stars at Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra.
Running across four months in AlUla for the Ancient Kingdoms Festival, this ambitious nighttime production invited visitors on an immersive journey into the ancient world of the Nabataeans.
An original script, bespoke musical composition, handcrafted costumes, and ambient lighting fully immersed guests in a theatrical world that seamlessly blended storytelling with deep cultural heritage.
The production featured over 50 actors—including actors, musicians, dancers and live animals, with scenes unfolding against the haunting backdrop of the tombs and desert cliffs.
Arabic and English storytellers guided audiences through a rich narrative experience grounded in local history.
Visitors were also invited to take part in jewellery-making and ancient kohl (eyeliner) making workshops, inspired by traditional Nabataean practices.
Entertain X provided market stall props and display items, carefully designed and fabricated to authentically reflect the materials, textures, and craftsmanship of the Nabataean era.
Every element was tailored to respect the unique terrain and cultural sensitivity of the UNESCO site.
Hegra After Dark welcomed more than 16,000 visitors over its run—making it the highest-selling nighttime experience in AlUla to date.
The show was awarded Best Arts & Culture Event at the Middle East Event Awards, recognising its creative innovation and cultural significance.
