OVERVIEW

Ancient Kingdoms Festival

The Ancient Kingdoms Parade, created and produced by Entertain X for the Royal Commission for AlUla, was a vibrant, large-scale spectacle that brought the stories of AlUla’s ancient civilizations to life through an immersive, live performance winding through the heart of AlUla’s Old Town.

Spanning three consecutive evenings, the 20-minute parade route featured over 200 performers, including cast members representing the Dadanite Kingdom, Nabataean culture, Hegra’s historic figures, and AlUla’s local community. Characters ranged from ancient kings, queens, guards, merchants, and farmers to Saudi folklore troupes, musicians, and modern-day rangers—each one costumed in historically inspired attire and accompanied by custom props.

The parade’s authenticity was elevated by the inclusion of camels, horses, and traditional horse-drawn carriages, reflecting ancient modes of transport and trade.

Carefully choreographed segments, live music, drumming, and theatrical storytelling unfolded along the route, offering guests a dynamic and culturally rich experience.

Executed in a live heritage environment, the project required detailed planning for crowd flow, performer movement, animal coordination, and guest safety.

It was a true celebration of AlUla’s history—from its earliest kingdoms to the spirit of its people today.
